Glycolic Skin Peel |
Single (approximately 15 minutes) – £70 |
Course of six – £350 (receive one free) |
NeoStrata Glycolic Acid is a Chemical Peel and is derived from the sugar cane, it improves the skin’s smoothness by sloughing off the dead skin to reveal a brighter more radiant younger looking skin. It is a naturally occurring Alpha Hydroxy Acid, a small molecular composition that quickly and deeply penetrates the skin out of all the other AHA’s. It is very efficient in removing the plugs from skin pores which can lead to acne, it therefore prevents and treats acne. Treatment time is quick which is why it’s call the lunchtime treatment and there is little downtime associated with this Chemical Peel. It is used to improve the appearance of skin imperfections such as: Mild to Moderate Acne Superficial Acne Scarring Keratosis Benign Lentigines Keratosis Pilaris Dry Skin Fine Lines and Wrinkles Sun Damaged and Weathered Skin Pigmentation Irregularities - +How does NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Peel Treatment work?
The Glycolic Acid formulation we use varies from a moderately low strength of 20% to a higher strength of 70% these strength are un-buffered, we also use a high potency strength. We suggest and recommend that the skin be prepared two weeks before having a NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Peel Treatment by using home care products which contain a mild glycolic acid, this will speed up the healing process following treatment. During NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Peel Treatment the skin is cleansed using a pre-peel cleanser. The Glycolic Acid is then painted over the face, (the neck maybe included, as well as the Décolleté if required) the NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Peel is left on the skin to activate for 2- 5 minutes then neutralized. Treated skin flakes after a few days and may not be visible depending on what concentration is used. - +What does un-buffered mean?
In simple words it means that a 20% strength Glycolic Acid Peel could be buffered down and reduced to only 8%. Why use un-buffered? We only use un-buffered because you get a better result! You want to achieve a specific result be it for pigmentation, anti ageing or to promote a healthy skin and with un-buffered you get a quicker, faster result by using buffered you are not reaching your potential goal. - +What does the difference percentage strengths mean?
Concentrations range from 20%, 35%, 50% or 70% as well as high potency. All working at different exfoliation levels depending what is needed and it is up to your professional skin care specialist to discuss with you what is the optimum strength required for your skin during consultation. The higher the concentration to deeper the peel works on dissolving the layers of the skin. All products are safe. There are three bands of Glycolic Peel strengths, superficial/light, medium and deep. Ph levels are very important in Glycolic Acid the lower the ph the strong the acid peel and deeper exfoliation the higher the ph the weaker the acid peel and exfoliation is more topical aiming at removing superficial skin. Superficial/Light NeoStrata Glycolic Peel 20% and 35% strength Removes the epidermis and makes the skin look brighter and radiant minimal shedding is achieved with these strengths due to the PH (level of acidity) being higher, although the skin may appear pinkish following treatment this quickly subsides and you can go about your daily business without anyone knowing that you have had treatment. A very good anti ageing treatment and very good for maintaining healthy skin condition. Medium NeoStrata Glycolic Peel 50% strength For sensitive, dry skin or for those who are on acne medication or other skin rejuvenation treatments. Deep NeoStrata Glycolic Peel 70% strength Used for non sensitive skin types, oily, or thicker skin type that need deep exfoliation. - +Who can have NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Skin Treatment?
Anyone can benefit from having treatment except those who have been prescribed accutane treatment within the last year, or if you have skin infection, broken skin or sores, it is advised to wait until the skin is back to normal. Naturally, during consultation you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire prior to having treatment to see if you are suitable. - +What happens during treatment?
Once the Glycolic Acid is applied to the skin you will experience a mild prickly sensation which is normal as the Glycolic Acid is breaking down the dead protein ready to reveal a cleaner, brighter skin. It is not a painful procedure. After treatment your skin will be applied with a post-peel nutricream which is soothing, restorative cream fortified with nutritional ingredients and a buffered emollient designed to protect, heal, and repair the skin following your peel treatment. - +What should you do after treatment
Your skin may look slightly pinkish after treatment this is normal, this redness will disappear after a few hours (fairer skin people are more noticeable). Your skin maybe a little drier and begin to flake after a couple of days following treatment, (flaking varies depending on which strength Glycolic Acid may have been administered). Most people do not notice any flaking or peeling and it is not obvious. It is advised to use a high factor sun screen preferably UVA,UVB 50% after treatment when going into the sun and to avoid sun beds. If having facials it is advised to leave a gap of two weeks following treatment, we also recommended your beauty therapist should be informed that you have had a Glycolic Acid Skin Treatment. They should not exfoliate the skin during your beauty facial. If you are undergoing a course of NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Skin Treatments it may be best to complete your course first and after your course you can alternate two weekly intervals of NeoStrata Glycolic Skin Treatments between your regular beauty facials. (This depends on skin condition and type). Avoid microdermabrasion whilst having Chemical Skin Peel Treatments. You do not exfoliate your skin at home following treatment for two weeks, although this does depend on strength of Glycolic Acid administered and also products used. - +Can Glycolic Acid Skin Peels be carried out on darker skin types?
Superficial/Light and Medium NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Skin Peels which are 20%, 35% and 50% can be performed on Asian and Black skin types providing precautions and monitoring is carefully carried out to prevent post pigmentation problems. It is very important that following NeoStrata Glycolic Acid Skin Peels the skin must be protected from sun exposure and it is not possible to work any irritated skin. For best results it is advised to have a course of 6 treatment which should be conducted weekly and then to proceed onto a 3-4 weekly maintenance programme, although single regular treatments can also achieve wonderful results.
